Sleeping Dogs…

Thursday, August 19, 2010

It’s not that unusual for people to ask us about our name, and if Sleeping Dogs Studio is just something that just rolls off the tongue easily; or if our dogs REALLY are studio dogs who spend a lot of their time sleeping as we work.  As a result, I present the following photos as evidence for your review:

I think I’ll let you draw your own conclusions…

Hazmat Team Anyone?

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

You just never know when you might need a hazardous materials team on hand. Like last night, for instance.

As my husband came up the driveway, a strange scent followed the car…and as he pulled into the garage, the smell became overwhelming.  The strong, pungent smell of skunk.

Apparently, as he was driving home, he swerved to miss a skunk on the highway.  While he managed to avoid hitting it, the skunk sprayed the bottom of our car with what was obviously close to a direct hit.

My husband even caught the stench.  By the time he arrived home, his eyes were burning, and he determined that his clothes would never be the same!

Despite several trips through the car wash, the car was moved outside last night and stayed there.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear from several of our neighbors tomorrow asking us to move it to the next county…

We have a mystery!

Thursday, August 12, 2010

I have had the strangest experience with our dogs the past two days as I’ve put them out in the back yard in the morning.

Normally, they are quite “excited” about going out and doing their business; sniffing all the smells leftover from the night before, etc. – this has always been one of their favorite times of day.

So imagine my surprise when Owen walked to the door – sniffed loudly – sniffed again…then walked quickly back to the deck with his ears back and tail between his legs!  Whatever had walked through our back yard last night did NOT appeal to him in the least, and he was fully prepared to cross his legs and wait until I took him out in the front yard as opposed to tackling the smells that remained from the night prior.

Now Owen is no fighter – but he’s not a coward either…so what’s prompting this behavior?!?  A passing deer buck?  A skunk?  A possum?

I prefer to believe that Sasquatch lives in the tree grove in our backyard.  This mystery deserves investigation…

(Disclaimer – NO, this is NOT a photo I took…just one of a supposed Sasquatch in the state of Indiana…who knows?!?)

Extra Room Quandary…

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

We recently moved our computer from an upstairs extra bedroom to our downstairs studio.  It has proven a great improvement, as most of what we do on the computer these days is related to the business – it makes sense to have the computer at the ready when we need it.

So I came up with the “brilliant” idea of moving our long-underused exercise equipment up to the former office.  My husband and I have a bet based upon years of experience using a treadmill for things like hanging our  ironing on; our hand weights as paper weights; and in general, creating a lot of nooks and crannies to gather dust!

So do we now have a fully-functioning gym in the house?  Or a totally useless room?!  Stay tuned…  :)

I guess we could always turn it into the Dog’s exercise room…
